How can I make a reservation?
You can book directly through our website using the secure booking system powered by Bókun.
What should I wear?
Warm layers, waterproof outerwear, gloves, hat, and sturdy hiking boots are essential. We provide safety equipment.
Do you offer pick-up in Reykjavík?
No, all tours start at Jökulsárlón. We do not offer pick-up services from Reykjavík or other towns.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made 24 hours before the tour are fully refundable. Later cancellations or no-shows are non-refundable.
Are there any age restrictions and can my child join?
Yes, for safety reasons we typically require participants to be at least 8 years old. Some tours may have different age limits.
What languages does the guide speak?
Our guides speak fluent English. Some may also speak Icelandic, Spanish or German depending on availability.
Do I need to bring food and drinks with me?
Yes, we recommend bringing snacks and water, especially for longer tours. We do not provide food.
What if I arrive late for my tour?
Please arrive 15-20 minutes early. If you’re late, we may not be able to wait, and your spot may be forfeited.
I am pregnant, can I still join the tour?
We recommend consulting your doctor. Most tours involve walking on uneven ice and may not be suitable during pregnancy.
Can I pay in cash?
No, we only accept online payments through our secure booking system.
Do you operate year-round?
Yes, but some tours are seasonal, such as ice cave tours in winter only. Glacier hikes are offered most of the year.
Is there parking at the meeting point?
Yes, there is PAID parking available at Jökulsárlón parking lot. Parking fee not included.
Are your guides certified?
Yes, all our guides are AIMG certified glacier guides.
Is tipping the guide expected?
Tipping is not required or expected but always appreciated.
Do I need travel insurance?

Can I fly my drone during the tour?

Ice Cave Tours
When is the best time to visit the ice caves?
The ice caves are typically accessible from November through March, depending on weather and conditions.
How long is the ice cave tour?
Most ice cave tours take around 2.5–3 hours total, including transport and safety briefing.
Is it safe inside the cave?
Yes, we only visit caves that have been assessed and approved by our glacier guides and government run glacier travel department. Safety is our top priority.
Can children join the ice cave tour?
Yes, children aged 8+ can join with adult supervision.
How cold is it inside the ice cave?
Temperatures can be close to freezing. Dress warmly and in layers.
Do I need special shoes for the cave?
We recommend sturdy, waterproof hiking boots. Crampons or microspikes are provided.
Can I visit the ice caves without a guide?
Visiting ice caves without professional knowledge can be very dangerous and not recommended.
What happens if the cave is flooded due to rain?
Tours may be cancelled or delayed for safety and accessibility. We offer rescheduling or refunds.
Is photography allowed in the cave?
Yes, but please be mindful of your surroundings and others.
Can I touch the ice walls?
Yes, gently — but we ask that you do not damage the structure.
Are the caves the same every year?
No, ice caves form and shift every season. Each visit is unique.
How far do we walk to reach the cave?
Usually a short ride (30-40min) and a 5–20 minute walk, depending on conditions and ice cave location.
Are helmets provided?
Yes, helmets and all safety gear are included in the tour.
Can I wear sneakers?
Sneakers are not suitable for icy terrain. Hiking boots are recommended.
How deep are the caves?
Depth varies, blue parts of typical river ice caves can reach 50-100m, rarely deeper into the cave unless there a light windows through the celing.
Are the caves lit inside?
Natural light enters through openings. We also use headlamps if needed. In some cases artificial light is turned on for safety and/or guidance.
Can I bring a tripod or photo gear?
Yes, but keep it compact and safe for walking on uneven ground. We often walk inside the caves so know your tripod and camera settings well so you’re not learning it on the spot.
Glacier Hike Tours
Do I need hiking experience?
No prior experience is needed. We welcome beginners and provide all necessary safety gear and guidance.
How physically demanding is the hike?
Our standard hikes are easy-to-medium and accessible for most people with average fitness.
What gear is included?
We provide crampons, helmets and harnesses. You just need to wear appropriate clothing and boots.
How many people are in each group?
We limit group sizes to ensure a safe and personal experience, typically 8–16 people per guide. Depends on surroundings.
Do I need to bring hiking poles?
No, hiking poles are optional and not required for most tours. If you’re intending to use hiking poles on the glacier you need to make sure that there is a sharp point on the end of the pole for stability and grip.
Can I hike with my children?
Yes, children 8+ with good fitness can join our beginner-friendly hikes.
What happens in bad weather?
Tours may be delayed or rescheduled. We assess conditions daily and prioritize safety.
Is altitude sickness a concern?
No, the glacier elevation is relatively low. Altitude sickness is not an issue on our tours.
Can I join with a heart condition?

Is there cell signal on the glacier?
Signal may be rigid, weak or unavailable. Let others know your plans in advance. Our guides communicate through satellite radios.
