About Glacier Mice
Glacier Mice is a local Icelandic glacier tour operator established in 2015 and based near Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Southeast Iceland. We specialize in guided ice cave tours and glacier hikes on Breiðamerkurjökull, one of the outlet glaciers of Vatnajökull.
What began with three friends and a shared connection to the glaciers of Southeast Iceland has grown into an experienced local operation dedicated to exploring and sharing this extraordinary landscape. Our focus remains the same: local knowledge, professional guiding, small-group experiences and respect for the glacier environment.
Our Story
Glacier Mice was founded in 2015 with a passion for the glaciers and landscapes of Southeast Iceland. From the beginning, our work has been closely connected to Breiðamerkurjökull and Jökulsárlón.
Years of operating on the glacier have given our team extensive experience with a landscape that never stands still. Ice caves form and disappear, crevasses open and close, and access routes change as the glacier moves through the seasons. Understanding these changes is an important part of working in this environment.
Since 2015, Glacier Mice has operated glacier tours on Breiðamerkurjökull, building more than a decade of practical experience in this constantly changing environment.
Today, Glacier Mice operates guided ice cave tours during the winter season and glacier hikes during the summer. Our tours depart from Jökulsárlón and are led by trained and certified glacier guides.

Our guides combine professional glacier training with practical experience on Breiðamerkurjökull. Our glacier guides are trained according to AIMG glacier guiding programmes, with safety, local knowledge and responsible travel at the centre of every tour.

Our Glacier Vehicles
Reaching the glacier is part of the adventure. Glacier Mice operates specially modified 4×4 vehicles to transport our guests between Jökulsárlón and the glacier access areas, allowing our team to adapt to changing routes and seasonal conditions.

Licences, Training & Environmental Commitment
Glacier Mice operates under a permit from Vatnajökull National Park and holds the required tour operator licence from the Icelandic Tourist Board. Our glacier guides are trained according to AIMG glacier guiding programmes, and we work with Kolviður through a carbon offsetting agreement.
